ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with a heavy heart that as the Board Chair for School District #92 that I announce the retirement of our current Superintendent, Mr. Joe Rhodes. Joe's retirement date is  July 31, 2020

Joe came to our Valley to work with the students, teachers, administrators, board and staff on June 20, 2017, it was intended to be a one-year contract but because of the desire of this board to have our leaders immerse themselves in our Nisga’a practices, laws and traditions both Joe and his wife Kelly stayed.

We are very grateful to the good works Joe has done through leadership, compassion, empathy and most importantly passion for the education and development of our students in the Nisga’a Nation to “graduate and leave with dignity, purpose and opportunities.”

Joe, along with his team at the board office have created and nurtured relationships with our Nisga’a leadership at NLG and at each Village Government that have led to support and understanding within our Nations leadership. This has allowed for more opportunity and support for students within the Nisga’a Nation.

School District #92 Nisga’a is sad to see both Joe and Kelly leave the Nisga’a Nation but is also understanding of the pull of being close to family ties, as is our belief to both Joe and Kelly, it is never good bye it is always until we meet again, we look forward to seeing you in your travels Joe and Kelly and we are truly blessed that you will be taking a piece of the Nisga’a Nation with you in your time here to share with others in your next adventures in life.
